I can’t believe I almost forgot to blog this session! October-December is always so crazy that I’m not even sure what I’ve shared anymore!
The bride-to-be, Brooke, and I go way back. We went to middle and high school together and were always friendly to each other, even though we didn’t really share the same group of friends. Like many graduates, we lost touch after high school until good ol’ Facebook. I’m kinda embarrassed to admit I’m even old enough to have went through high school (and college) without Facebook even being a ‘thing’.
From Facebook I ended up stalking (um following) her on Pinterest. Brooke has amazing style and apparently she and I share similar tastes in many of the things we like. And that assumption is based on the million and one pins of hers I have repinned….
Then one day out of the blue she calls me and wants to know if I travel since she’s moved a couple hours away since high school. She knew a proposal was coming, she just didn’t know when it would be, and she loved my work and wanted to know if I traveled. (By the way, if you want to win over your photographer, that’s the way to do it! You’re not engaged, there’s no ring or date set, but by golly asking your photographer if they will be available to travel when he finally proposes is a total brownie point….. <3 ) As she went on to describe her wedding idea, a brewery themed event, I was excited. It was something totally different than I have ever done!
After reassuring her I would travel, we got off the phone with plans for me to hear from her as soon as Nathan had proposed and a date was set.
Months went by and finally I get the message that they have a wedding date and I was thrilled! So in addition to securing her wedding date, we planned a fall engagement session outdoors at Yellow Creek Park and at none other than a local bar. Brooke and Nathan were an absolute blast to work with and Gambrinus in Owensboro, KY was awesome to let us use their venue for a few pictures.
I cannot wait for their wedding.
PS…Brooke and Nathan pre-arranged shooting at the bar so if that sounds like an idea you love, you may want to call ahead.
